Stimulus Reports
A series of stimulus reports have been commissioned for the first SFRE Forum: England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. The stimulus reports were written following a common template.
England Report by Andrew Morris.
Andrew Morris is an education consultant specialising in the interaction of research, policy and practice. As director of the National Educational Research Forum (NERF) in England until 2006, he worked with the chair, Sir Michael Peckham, on improving coherence in the way research was produced and used.
Northern Ireland Report by Dr Ruth Leitch.
Ruth Leitch is a senior lecturer, Queen’s University Belfast, Northern Ireland. She is currently a member of BERA Executive Council and a representative on the Northern Ireland Education Research Forum. Her main areas of research interest lie in qualitative methodologies and the use of creative methods of data collection and representation with children and teachers.
Scotland Report by Professor Sally Brown.
Sally Brown is an Emeritus Professor of Education at the University of Stirling, Scotland.
Wales Report by Professor Richard Daugherty and Dr Susan Davies.
Richard Daughtery has been an Honorary Professor in the Cardiff School of Social Sciences since 2006. The main focus of Richard’s publications in recent years has been on education policy, especially policies on the school curriculum and on student assessment. With Gareth Rees and Robert Phillips he co-edited Education Policy-making in Wales (University of Wales Press 2000) and in 2007 he edited a special issue of the Welsh Journal of Education on education policy in Wales since devolution.
Dr Susan Davies is a senior lecturer in the School of Education Studies and Social Inclusion at Trinity College in Carmarthen. She is the Chairperson of the Welsh Education Research Network which facilitates collaborative partnerships between higher education institutions in Wales to build educational research capacity.
