Forum II

The second in the series of three SFRE events was held in Reading, England, on June 17th and 18th, 2009. It focused on the contribution of different types of research, with particular attention to disciplinary, applied, developmental, evaluative and practitioner forms.

Forum II illustrated good practice in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales and explored areas where future strategic investment may be appropriate. It also considered the challenges of interdisciplinary research and the factors which are considered in setting research priorities.

The Forum did this by bringing together representatives of practitioner organisations, policymakers, academics and research mediators in roughly equal proportions and by providing a structured programme of group and plenary activities – see the programme and the ‘conceptualisation for Forum II’ document below for more on this.
